There are hundreds of islands that include the Southern Reef Islands, Capricorn group, Bunker group and the Keppel Islands.
Great Keppel Island, only 13km off the coast is serviced by regular ferries from Rockhampton. Boat trips include snorkelling, boom-netting and visiting the underwater observatory.
Lady Elliot Island, 80km east of Bundaberg, is accessible by plane or boat from Bundaberg.
Heron Island is 72km from Gladstone. The Heron Island Resort services the island by catamaran for guests only, or you can take a helicopter from Gladstone.
